This year, Geneva College commencement ceremonies followed a new schedule, in which the graduate and adult education ceremony was held on a Friday, Baccalaureate was held on Sunday evening, and traditional undergraduate commencement took place on Monday morning. To better meet the needs of students and their families, as well as college faculty and staff, the schedule has been revised for Commencement 2011:

  • Baccalaureate - Friday, May 6 (time TBD)
  • Traditional Undergraduate Commencement - Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m.
  • Graduate and Adult Commencement - Saturday, May 7, 4 p.m.

"While the Monday undergrad ceremony went very well, plenty of parents and students raised concerns that having the ceremony on a weekday was a hardship in a variety of ways. Therefore, we decided that it was necessary to try to get this ceremony back to Saturday," says Provost Ken Carson.

The decision was made in consultation with a committee of faculty and staff, the college leadership team and the directors of the graduate and adult education programs.

Baccalaureate and the graduate and adult commencement will be held in Metheny Fieldhouse, and the traditional undergraduate ceremony will take place in Reeves Field, weather permitting.
