Baltimore, MD - Geneva College co-head coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser could not have written a better script for the first week of the 2010 season. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes moved to 4-0 on the season as they picked up their third victory at the Johns Hopkins University tournament and with it the tournament title. Geneva closed out the perfect showing with a 3-0 victory over Goucher College by scores of 25-17, 25-9, 25-18. Senior outside hitter Adriane Blake, who led Geneva on Saturday with seven kills, was named the tournament MVP. Teammate and other Baltimore native Rachel Kuegler was named to the All-Tournament team.

Geneva gave up just one game in the three matches at Johns Hopkins but was never challenged on Saturday. Freshman setter Deanna Briody led the way with 24 assists while Brianne Mixter posted six digs, all of which came in the first game of the match.

Geneva will return to Beaver Falls and prepare for the home opener on Wednesday night against Chatham University in the first action against Presidentsā€² Athletic Conference competition.
