New Wilmington, PA - It is clear the Geneva College women′s volleyball team was not interested in just breaking the single season record for victories, it actually wanted to destroy it. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes put another notch in the win total with a 3-1 victory over Westminster in improving their overall record to 26-5 and extending the single season school record for victories. Geneva defeated Westminster by scores of 25-10, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 as it closed out the regular season on the road.

Geneva will now begin a difficult three weeks before getting word from the NCCAA as to whether its record breaking season of 26 victories was good enough to earn the school′s first national tournament bid. "We have pretty much done all we can do," said co-head coach Wendy Smith. "We have played a difficult schedule and set a record for victories in a season. These ladies deserve an opportunity to represent Geneva College on the national stage."

On Saturday, Adriane Blake continued her all-American campaign with a team best 19 kills and five blocks. Rachel Kuegler and Maggie Bowersox each picked up ten kills with Deanna Briody providing the spark with 38 assists. Brianna Mixter led the defense with 25 digs while Kirsten Ley was also effective at the net with four blocks in the victory.

The NCCAA bids will be discussed and handed out following a conference call to be held on November 17th. Until then, Geneva can simply prepare for a national tournament appearance that may or may not come. One thing that is for sure is that this 2010 Geneva women′s volleyball team has already enjoyed the best season in school history.
