Beaver Falls, PA - There are enough emotions flowing on senior night to throw in an overtime game on top of it. Playing the 2010 regular season finale at Merriman Athletic Complex, the Geneva women′s soccer team could not muster up a goal in a 1-0 overtime loss to Saint Vincent College. The Golden Tornadoes ended the regular season with an overall record of 10-7-3 as the offensive drought that has followed Geneva throughout the second half of the season reared its ugly head once again. The Golden Tornadoes were shut-out for the sixth time in the last seven matches of the season despite chance after chance in regulation time and in the extra sessions.

Geneva had 17 shots toward the net and seven shots on goal but none could get into the net. Several high quality chances went by the boards both early in the game and late in regulation. With neither team finding the goal after 90 minutes, the teams went to sudden death overtime. At the end of the first overtime period, Lauren Londino made an acrobatic save to keep the game scoreless and force a second overtime. Just three minutes into the second overtime, Saint Vincent′s Catherine Czapski scored on a breakaway to send the senior day crowd home unsatisfied. Londino made eight saves in the match but the senior saw the final shot of the day skip into the corner of the net preventing what would have been her 27th career shut-out.

Geneva has already qualified for the NCCAA east regional tournament, but the date and participants are still to be determined.
