Beaver Falls, PA - It had only been five days since Penn State Beaver defeated Geneva by 16 points in the season opener. On Saturday night, the Golden Tornadoes got a chance to enact some revenge and they took full advantage of their opportunity. Geneva defeated the Lions by the count of 64-50 to move to 2-1 on the season while Penn State dropped to 1-2. Geneva head coach Renee Drake knew her team had to do a better job protecting the basketball and a better job on the glass. Geneva did commit 21 turnovers on Saturday night but they out rebounded the Lions by five in the rematch.

"We really needed to focus on our defense and limiting them to just one shot per trip," said Drake. "They had some chances early in the game but we did a much better job rebounding the basketball in the second half."

Penn State took a 23-22 lead into the halftime locker room, but it was Geneva that came out of that locker room on a mission. The Golden Tornadoes scored the first 14 points of the second half to take a 13 point lead. Penn State rallied back and got to within three points at 48-45 but Geneva again ran off eight consecutive points to put the game away. "We made some big shots when it counted and got some huge defensive stops," said Drake. "It was a great way to open our home schedule."

Beth DeLuca led the Golden Tornadoes with 15 points while both Alyse Scarsella and Leah Prisuta scored 12 points in the victory. Samantha Fisher came off the bench to score eight points and grab a team high eight rebounds. For the Lions, Heather Sandusky scored 14 points and Jasmine Green added 11 points in the losing effort.

The Golden Tornadoes will head to Point Park on Tuesday night before returning home next Saturday night to face Fredonia State University.
