Kissimmee, FL – Junior pitcher Julie DiLonardo won 21 games and set the single season record for strikeouts for Geneva College a year ago. In very unfamiliar fashion, DiLonardo got banged around to the tune of seven earned runs in her first outing of the season on Monday. One day later, she was back to her old self with a pair of victories over Mitchell by the score of 4-0 and Wittenberg by the count of 9-2. She tossed 13 innings and did not allow an earned run while striking out eight. Geneva evened its early season record at 2-2 after dropping a doubleheader in Kissimmee on Monday.

An RBI triple from Chris Fuqua opened the scoring in the fifth followed by a run scoring double off the bat of Adriane Blake. Geneva posted two more runs in the sixth inning for added insurance that it wouldn′t need. Ashley Davis had a pair of hits to lead Geneva′s seven hit attack. In game two, Geneva posted four runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run single from Leanne Abate and an RBI double off the bat of Samantha Bautista. The Golden Tornadoes broke the game open with three more runs in the sixth inning on back to back run scoring singles from Davis and Abate. Geneva pounded out ten hits in the night cap. DiLonardo yielded just two hits in six innings with Ariel Lilly closing out the game with a perfect seventh inning.

Geneva will face Catholic University and Bluffton College on Wednesday before enjoying an off day on Thursday.
