Clearwater, FL – It hasn′t taken long for the Geneva College baseball team to find its offense. The Golden Tornadoes posted 24 more runs in a doubleheader sweep over Valley Forge Christian on Thursday. Geneva defeated Valley Forge by scores of 11-1 and 13-5 to stretch its win streak to six games and move to 6-1 on the season.

Game one was a nail biter for most of the action with the team′s tied at 1-1 into the fifth inning. Jon Jurinko did his best to take care of the tie with a three-run homer that highlighted a seven run fifth inning to break the game open. Doug Sanson tossed a five-hit complete game to pick up the victory. Sanson had seven strikeouts including punch outs of five of the final six hitters of the game.

Game two was not nearly as competitive as the Golden Tornadoes exploded for ten runs on nine hits in the first inning of the night cap. Jon Jurinko and Noah Medich each had two hits in the first inning. Bryan Visingardi and Herbie Pegg posted two hit games while Jeremy Herzog came up with three knocks in the victory. On the mound, Tad Forsythe went five innings to pick up the victory as Mike Trn closed out the final two innings for the Golden Tornadoes.

Valley Forge Christian will get another shot at Geneva as the two teams are scheduled for another twin bill on Friday afternoon.
