Latrobe, PA - It was only one inning that cost the Geneva College baseball team on Monday afternoon. But that inning was one that featured six runs from Saint Vincent as the Bearcats rallied past Geneva by the score of 9-5. The loss was Geneva′s fourth straight and dropped the Golden Tornadoes to 10-6 on the season.

After spotting Saint Vincent a run in the bottom of the first, the Golden Tornadoes took the lead with a pair of tallies in the top of fourth. Saint Vincent came back with two of its own in the bottom of the fifth before Geneva rallied for three runs in the sixth. Leading 5-3, the Golden Tornadoes surrendered six runs in the bottom of the sixth and Saint Vincent managed to hold on for a 9-5 final.

The Golden Tornadoes banged out nine hits including a 3-4 day from freshman Mike Jeffreys. Mike Suluva and Noah Medich each had a pair of hits as Suluva has now collected at least two hits in three straight games. Jeffreys and Bryan Visingardi each supplied a pair of RBI′s in the loss.

Doug Sanson got the start and went 5.1 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits. Mike Suluva was saddled with the loss in 1.2 innings of work and three earned runs allowed. Adam Scheiderer came in to toss a scoreless eighth inning for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva does not get much time to recover as it travels to Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday for a 3 pm doubleheader against the President′s. Geneva returns home on Friday for a single game against Thiel before heading to Greenville for a doubleheader on Saturday.
