Washington, PA - The Geneva College offense didn′t exactly break out on Tuesday afternoon but it did enough to gain a PAC split against Washington & Jefferson and put an end to its four game losing slide. The Golden Tornadoes rallied for a 4-3 win in game one before falling 2-1 in the night cap. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 11-7.

After spotting the President′s a 2-0 lead in game one, Geneva put together a four-run sixth inning to take the lead. The rally was highlighted by RBI singles from Adam Scheiderer and Jon Bushmire. The Golden Tornadoes made the most of their five hits in the game to pull out the victory. Mike Trn went the distance to earn the victory on the mound. Trn allowed just three hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters. Justin McGurgan, returning from a hamstring injury, was Geneva′s lone player with at least two hits.

Caleb Kilgore threw a masterpiece in game two but it wasn′t enough to earn the sweep. The freshman went the distance and allowed four hits and two earned runs in the hard luck loss. On offense, the Golden Tornadoes managed only four hits in game two. The lone run was knocked in when Adam Scheiderer scored on Jeremy Herzog′s base hit in the second inning. W & J tied the game in the fifth and scored the game winner one inning later.

Geneva will face Thiel College this weekend in a three game series beginning with a single game at Geneva on Friday at 4 pm.
