Greenville, PA - For the second consecutive outing, Mike Trn has had things going his way on the mound for Geneva College. On Saturday afternoon, Trn pitched a complete game five hitter in leading the Golden Tornadoes to a 4-3 victory in game of the doubleheader. Thiel turned the tables on Geneva in game two with a 9-3 decision that left the Golden Tornadoes sitting at 12-8 on the season.

In game one, Trn allowed five hits and three walks but managed to hang on and keep the Tomcats off the board in the final three innings. Geneva opened the scoring with a run in the first inning on an RBI single from Justin McGurgan. Three more runs scored in the third inning highlighted by a two run homer off the bat of Adam Scheiderer. Geneva had eight hits in game one including a pair from Jeremy Herzog.

Thiel ran off to a 9-0 lead after four innings and Geneva was unable to respond despite three runs late in the game. The Golden Tornadoes did come up with ten hits in the night cap including two each from Joel Gatti and Jon Bushmire. Ross Potts got the start and the loss after throwing three innings and allowing seven earned runs. Tad Forsythe closed out the game allowing two runs in three innings of work.

Geneva will close out its three-game series with Thiel at home on Monday with a single game scheduled for 4 pm.
