Zanesville, OH - The rain finally stopped long enough for Geneva College to face off against Ohio Christian on Wednesday. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the wet weather forced the two teams to wait 24 hours. At the end of the night, each team had picked up a victory and a loss. It took nine innings in the first game for Geneva to pull out a 2-1 victory. It was all Ohio Christian in the night cap in a 14-1 decision. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 14-11.

Matt Baer went the distance in game one to earn his third victory of the season. Baer allowed ten hits but only one unearned run to cross the plate. He struck out four batters in moving to 3-2 on the season. After spotting Ohio Christian a 1-0 lead, Joel Gatti′s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning tied the game. It remained tied until the top of the ninth when Mike Jeffrey′s came up with the game winning single.

Ohio Christian held a 1-0 lead in the night cap until they blew the game wide open in the late innings. Scoring 13 times in the final three frames, Ohio Christian featured a nine run seventh inning. Geneva had just three hits in the night cap.

The Golden Tornadoes get back into PAC action today when they host Westminster College at 4 pm in a single game. Over the weekend, the Golden Tornadoes will face Waynesburg in a three-game set.
