Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College baseball team was hoping a new day would bring better results after a tough loss Westminster on Thursday. It was a new day and a different opponent but the result remained the same as the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 9-2 decision to Waynesburg University. The loss dropped Geneva to 14-13 on the season with another doubleheader with Waynesburg coming up on Saturday.

A hard luck second inning resulted in four Waynesburg runs to open the scoring. A leadoff walk was followed by a windblown pop up that landed in the infield. An error, two hits and two walks later, the Yellow jackets had grabbed a 4-0 lead. The Golden Tornadoes cut the lead in half with a pair of tallies in the third inning. Noah Medich′s two out, two run single made the score 4-2 but would put an end to the Geneva offense for the day.

The Golden Tornadoes managed just five hits in the game. Mike Trn started for Geneva and lasted 6+ innings in taking the loss. Trn allowed four earned runs in falling to 4-2 on the season. Doug Sanson came on and shut the door with three innings of scoreless relief.

Geneva will try to respond on Saturday with a doubleheader at Waynesburg. The Golden Tornadoes are scheduled to return home on Monday for a single game against Thiel College.
