Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College baseball team is getting hot at just the right time. The Golden Tornadoes may have saved their best offensive performances for the end of the regular season. Geneva won for the fourth consecutive time on Tuesday in a 14-7 victory over Thiel College. The win pushed Geneva′s overall record to 18-14 with still four games scheduled for the rest of the week.

With the game remaining scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, Geneva took control with a five run frame. Four consecutive hits culminated by an RBI single from Jon Bushmire and a run scoring double from Justin McGurgan got the Golden Tornadoes going on offense. Adam Scheiderer capped the inning with a two-run single. Geneva put the game out of reach with a nine-run sixth inning. Jon Jurinko had a run scoring triple and later in the inning came up with an RBI double. Joel Gatti clubbed a two-run homer, his first of the season, to aid in the offensive outburst. Thiel didn′t do itself any favors on defense committing five errors in the frame.

Mike Trn pitched 6.2 innings and picked up the victory. He allowed five hits and four runs. He did not strike out a batter and walked five. Scheiderer came on in the seventh inning to record the final out. Geneva banged out 14 hits in the victory with Jurinko, Scheiderer and Gatti each posting two hits each.

Geneva is scheduled to travel to Bethany for a single game on Wednesday before opening a three-game set against Grove City over the weekend.
