Beaver Falls, PA - There will undoubtedly be many firsts this season when it comes to the Geneva College athletic department. Playing its first season as a full member of NCAA Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference, the women′s tennis team took care of one first in the 2011 season opener. The Golden Tornadoes suffered their first official conference loss at the hands of Saint Vincent College on Friday by the score of 9-0.

Each of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets with Saint Vincent cruising in each match. Despite dropping three doubles matches, Geneva did manage to keep things close in second and third doubles with respective 8-4 losses by teams comprised of Brittany Kress and Courtney Light in second doubles and Cassandra Califf and Sarah Cypher in third doubles.

The Golden Tornadoes will step out of conference action on Saturday when they make the long trek into southern Ohio to take on former American Mideast Conference foe Cedarville University out of the NAIA. Geneva battles defending PAC champion Grove City on the road next Friday before a trip to Thiel a week from tomorrow. The Golden Tornadoes don′t return home until September 14th for a date with Westminster College.
