Beaver Falls, PA - Home cooking had been treating the Geneva College women′s soccer pretty well in the first week of the season. After having won its first two home matches of the season, the Golden Tornadoes fell for the first time in familiar surroundings on Saturday afternoon to Medaille College by the count of 3-2. The loss dropped Geneva back to 2-2 on the year while Medaille picked up its first win of 2011 and improved to 1-3.

Geneva′s Maura Allen opened the scoring with her fifth goal of the season in the 25th minute of the game. Allen took advantage of a breakaway to find the back of the net to give the Golden Tornadoes what would turn out to be a short-lived lead. Less than a minute later, Medaille tied the score on a long blast off of the foot of Katie Botsford. Medialle took its first lead of the game five minutes later on a tally from Joey Ruderman.

Just before halftime, Cindy George got her head on a cross from Allen to tie the game heading into the break. Medaille managed the only second half goal in the 56th minute on a header from Brittany DeBole off of a corner kick.

Medaille out shot Geneva 11-10 for the game while freshman goalkeeper Sara Mittner did manage five saves but saw her two match scoreless streak come to an end.

Geneva will close out its four game home stand on Monday night at 7 pm when it welcomes LaRoche College to Merriman Athletic Complex.
