Beaver Falls, PA - A week ago, the Geneva College women′s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory at Thiel. The rematch between the schools came on Wednesday in Beaver Falls and it was far from easy for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva managed to rally back from an early deficit to take a 3-1 decision over the Tomcats. The Golden Tornadoes moved to 14-7 overall and 9-1 in the PAC.

After dropping the first game of the match 25-22, the Golden Tornadoes rebounded for wins in games two, three and four by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-20. Although it may seem as though Geneva took control of the match late, the scores don′t tell the whole story.

Geneva did rebound for a somewhat easy victory in game two to tie the match, but Thiel jumped all over Geneva in game three and rushed out to a 10-1 lead. The Golden Tornadoes rallied back to take game three but the same scenario set itself up in game four. Trailing 9-3 in the final game of the night, Geneva again rallied back to take control of the game and ultimately snag victory from the jaws of defeat.

Ashley Davis led a balanced offensive attack with 18 kills while teammates Kristland McCracken, Rachel Kuegler and Maggie Bowersox each had 12 kills and four blocks. Deanna Briody had her usual solid performance with 50 assists while Brianna Mixter was all over the floor adding to her already conference leading digs total with 47 on the night.

The Golden Tornadoes will enjoy some extended time off before getting back to action next Tuesday at Grove City. Geneva returns home on October 13th to face Washington & Jefferson.
