Westminster, PA - The Geneva College cross country teams have been competing at the PAC championships for the past four years. On Saturday, the final times actually meant something this time around as the Golden Tornadoes were competing for the first time as an official member of the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. When the dust settled or in this case the mud, the Geneva men and women each finished fourth overall at the meet. The Saint Vincent College men′s team took home the top prize while the Grove City women continued their cross country dominance with yet another PAC title.

On the women′s side, Geneva posted 113 points and finished just ten points behind Westminster. Emily Hoobler ran perhaps the best race of her career with a 20th place finisher and Geneva′s top runner. Teammate Shannon Rech finished just one spot behind Hoobler as they finished with times of 25:45 and 25:47 respectively. Each of Geneva′s top five runners finished in the top 25 with Heidi Steiner (23), Alayna Merkle (24) and Anna Kluitenberg (25) each turning in impressive outings.

In men′s action, Nick Edinger was a second team All-Conference selection with his ninth place finish and a time of 27:50 on Saturday. Charles Parker (22) and Chuck Walters (25) were the only other male runners to place in the top 25 on Saturday. Owen Struck (39), Nate Mansor (41) and Jacob Beschner (42) each broke the top 50.

Geneva will now set its sights on the NCCAA national cross country meet at Cedarville University on November 12th.
