Beaver Falls, PA - Whatmakes baseball such a great game is that just when you thought you have seen it all, a game like the one that took place at Geneva′s 33rd Street Field on Monday comes along. The Golden Tornadoes and the Bearcats from Saint Vincent hooked up in one of the wildest baseball games in recent history. Geneva outlasted Saint Vincent 21-20 in one of the highest scoring games in Geneva baseball history. The victory gave Geneva the season series two games to one after the teams split a doubleheader last Friday. The victory moved the Golden Tornadoes to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Saint Vincent opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Saint Vincent would score at least one run in each of the nine innings but even that would not be enough to come away with the victory. After falling behind 2-0 in the first, Geneva sent 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first as it posted 13 runs on eight hits. T.J. Lambert capped the inning with his first career grand slam just four batters after Noah Medich slugged a three-run blast. The Bearcats slowly began their comeback with four runs in the second, four more in the third and a pair in the fourth. By the bottom of the sixth inning, Saint Vincent had come all the way back to tie the game at 15-15. Geneva regained the lead with four more runs in that bottom of the sixth inning. Mike Jeffreys highlighted the rally with a bases loaded double that scored three runs. Saint Vincent answered with two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth. The Bearcats knotted the game at 20-20 with a run in the top of the ninth.

Medich opened the ninth with a base hit that was followed by a Jeremy Herzog sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk, a wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third forcing the Bearcats to intentionally pass Joel Gatti to load the bases with one out. Ryan McGonigle gave the Golden Tornadoes the ever popular walk-off bases loaded walk to win the game.

Geneva banged out 17 hits in the victory. T.J. Lambert was a perfect 4-4 in the game with five RBI. Gatti had three hits along with Mike Jeffreys. The pitching victory went to Tad Forsythe in relief. Forsythe pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs in picking up the win.
