Beaver Falls, PA - Just one day after lighting up the 33rd Street Field scoreboard to the tune of 21 runs, the Geneva College baseball team could only generate a pair of tallies in a doubleheader loss to Washington & Jefferson. After posting a 21-20 victory over Saint Vincent College on Monday in one of the wildest games in recent history, the Golden Tornadoes dropped games to W & J by scores of 9-2 and 1-0. The doubleheader loss evened Geneva′s record at 10-10 overall and in the PAC at 4-4.

W & J jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning of game one. The Presidents added two more tallies in the third and then broke things wide open with a five run fifth. Trailing 9-0 Geneva scored its only two runs of the game and of the day in the seventh inning of game one. An RBI ground out from Dan Jeffreys and a run scoring single from Noah Medich produced the only runs of the day. Geneva managed just five hits in game one with four of those knocks coming in that seventh inning. Caleb Kilgore started and picked up his first loss of the season. Kilgore allowed seven earned runs in five innings.

Game two was a pitcher′s duel from the start. Mike Jeffreys went the distance and was hit with the hard luck loss after allowing just one earned run in seven innings. Jeffreys allowed five hits and struck out eight in the game. W & J scored the game′s only run on back to back hits in the fifth inning. The Golden Tornadoes picked up just one hit in the game on a single from Dan Jeffreys in the fifth inning.

The Golden Tornadoes will get back to work on Friday in a single game at Thiel College. The Tomcats return to Beaver Falls to complete the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 pm.
