Washington, PA - It was senior Liz Michalak that was center stage last weekend with a victory in the heptathlon and subsequent PAC female performer of the week award. This weekend, little sister Katherine Michalak took the spotlight with a first place finish in the shot put at the W & J Invitational. The younger Michalak finished with a distance of 40-00.05 for her initial first place finish of the season. Teammate Kathryn Regalado, who has also qualified nationally in the shot put event, finished fourth overall with a toss of 36-09.75. Sara Williams also turned in a top ten performance with an eighth place finish in the shot put. Mary Keen turned in a sixth place finish in the discus with a mark of 114-02.

In other highlights for the women, Alayna Merkle finished second in the 1500 meter race with a time of 5:01.20, which was just five seconds off of the top spot. Jamie Mahan finished sixth in the 400 meter dash while teammates Emily Hoobler (fifth) and Shannon Rech (eighth) turned in solid performances in the 5000 meter event.

Geneva′s men turned in seven top ten finishes on the day although none of the men finished in the top three in their events.
