Ft. Pierce, FL - The Geneva College baseball split a doubleheader against Northwestern, MN on Wednesday as it pushed its overall record to 3-3. The Golden Tornadoes took game one 5-3 behind a solid pitching performance from Mike Jeffreys. Geneva dropped the night cap 6-4 for its second split in as many days.

Jeffreys went six innings and allowed six hits while striking out nine on his way to the victory. Caleb Kilgore finished things off allowing one run in the seventh inning to pick up his first save of the year. Geneva needed just one inning to put all its runs on the board. The Golden Tornadoes exploded for a five-run fifth inning on the strength of four hits and a costly Northwestern error. Joel Gatti and Ryan McGonigle each had RBI singles to highlight the inning. The Golden Tornadoes capped the inning with a pair of runs that resulted from an error on a hard hit ball off of the bat of Dan Jeffreys.

Cody Holbrook was saddled with the loss in game two following a five inning effort. Sam Potter pitched the final two innings of scoreless ball. Mike Suluva and Joel Gatti posted three hits each in the night cap including a Gatti triple in the seventh inning.

The Golden Tornadoes will be off on Thursday and will get back to work on Friday with a single game against Delaware Valley. Geneva opens PAC play in Florida on Saturday with a single game against Bethany. The two PAC schools will then play a doubleheader on Monday in Ft. Pierce before heading home.
