Myers, FL - Julie DiLonardo became Julie DiLonardo on Saturday as one of the best pitchers in school history found her groove in a doubleheader sweep for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva dispatched Elms College 11-1 in five innings before posting an 8-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene in a six inning effort. The Golden Tornadoes crawled back to the .500 mark at 5-5 on the young season.

DiLonardo went four innings in game one and struck out seven batters for the victory. She allowed just two hits in picking up her third victory of the season. An RBI double from Ashley Davis and a run scoring single from Ashley Ritchey put Geneva up 2-0 in the first inning. The Golden Tornadoes put up two more runs in the second highlighted by RBI hits from Christina Fuqua and Davis. Geneva broke the game open with seven runs in the third inning. Michelle Barr and DiLonardo each had run scoring doubles prior to another run scoring single from Ritchey. Geneva′s 13 hit attack was led by a 3-3 effort from Ritchey and two hits from Davis.

Game two featured more dominant pitching and timely hitting. DiLonardo set a single game school record with 15 strikeouts in the victory. She went the distance and allowed only two hits and a walk while striking out 15. Andrea Hinds′ RBI ground out opened the scoring in the second inning. A three-run fifth inning was highlighted by a two-run double from Davis. Fuqua and Davis closed out the scoring in the sixth inning with RBI base hits.

Geneva will enjoy an off day on Sunday before closing out its Florida swing on Monday with games against St. Mary′s College and Steven′s Institute.
