Beaver Falls, PA - The Westminster College baseball team continued is scorching hot offensive prowess in game one of Saturday′s doubleheader at Geneva College. The Titans posted a 15-5 victory in game one giving their offense a ridiculous 52 runs in the last three victories. Sophomore hurler Mike Jeffries took the mound in game two for Geneva and did was aces are supposed to do. Jeffries shut down the Titan offense and kept them off the board in a 2-0 Geneva victory. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 12-15 including a 6-9 mark in the PAC. Westminster dropped its first conference game of the season in falling to 8-1 in league play following Saturday′s action.

Westminster picked up where it left off from Thursday′s 16-run outburst in the first game on Saturday. The Titans took advantage of five first inning errors to scored seven runs. With two more runs in the second and a four-spot in the fifth, Westminster opened up a 13-0 lead before Geneva managed to get a run on the board. Mike Jeffreys tripled home Geneva′s first tally in the fifth before Noah Medich picked up a pair of RBI′s in Geneva′s three run sixth inning.

Caleb Kilgore went 3.1 innings and was victimized by some poor defense in allowing 12 runs in the outing. Geneva had six hits in game one including a pair from Jeffreys and TJ Lambert.

Game two was all about the pitching of Mike Jeffreys. Going the distance, the sophomore posted a shut-out and allowed just three hits while striking out seven Westminster batters. Geneva got on the board with a Noah Medich RBI single in the second inning. In the third, TJ Lambert singled home Jeffreys with a second run that Geneva would not need.

The Golden Tornadoes will enjoy six days off before getting back to work at home next Friday in the first of a three-game series with Grove City. Geneva will host the Wolverines in a single game on Friday before heading to Grove City for a doubleheader next Saturday afternoon.
