Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva did what it had to do on Wednesday which was win at least once against Thomas More to keep pace for a possible play-off spot in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. The Golden Tornadoes let one opportunity pass in a 4-2 loss in nine innings in game one. In game two, Geneva got out the sticks and cruised to a 10-2 victory in six innings over the Saints. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 26-16 including a 10-6 mark in the conference. The Golden Tornadoes remain tied with Thiel College for the third and fourth spots in the conference with Saint Vincent and Westminster tied at the top. Should Geneva win a pair of games against Chatham on Friday, it would qualify for the post-season tournament in its first year of eligibility.

Thomas More jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of solo homers. The Golden Tornadoes cut the lead in half with a run in the fifth on an RBI single from Martha Adams. One inning later, Mackenzie Kemerer knocked in the tying run on an RBI ground out. Geneva put its first two runners on in the bottom of the seventh of a tie game but could not get the winning run across. Thomas More scored a pair in the top of the ninth and Geneva could not answer despite putting two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the inning. Julie DiLonardo took the loss after nine innings of work and 12 strikeouts.

The night cap belonged to Geneva from the start. The Golden Tornadoes posted three runs in the top of the first highlighted by a two-run single from Lori Deem and an RBI base hit from Brittany Clark. After the Saints answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, Geneva posted three runs in the next two innings. The Golden Tornadoes put the game away with three runs in the sixth inning on a two run single from Christina Fuqua and a solo home run from Ashley Davis. Geneva banged out 13 hits in the victory. DiLonardo went five innings in earning her school record 22nd victory of the season.

Geneva closes out the regular season on Friday with a doubleheader at home against Chatham University scheduled to begin at 3 pm.
