Geneva College invites prominent guests to campus each semester to enrich the educational experience while engaging the campus and surrounding community with cultural ideas and values. Visitors include distinguished lecturers, well-known artists and musicians, best-selling authors and leading religious figures

The scheduled Guests@Geneva line-up for the fall 2012 semester is:

Chapel speaker author Christopher Yuan-Wednesday, September 12 at 10:10 a.m. in Metheny Fieldhouse, and at 2:30 p.m., 3:35 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Skye Lounge
Christopher Yuan is the author of Out of a Far Country, which details his redemption from a lifestyle as a promiscuous homosexual and convicted drug dealer. While in prison, Yuan discovered that he was HIV positive, but he also discovered eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. Yuan′s presentations include a sharing of his testimony during Chapel, as well as the lectures "Homosexuality: Texts and Hermeneutics," "Homosexuality: Nature or Nurture," and "Homosexuality and the Christian Campus."


Keith Medley - Keith Plessy

In the 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson case, the United States Supreme Court held that racially separate but equal public facilities were compatible with the U.S. Constitution. Keith Medley, author of We as Freeman: Plessy v. Ferguson-The Fight Against Legal Segregation, and Keith Plessy, descendent of plaintiff Homer Plessy, are two of the founders of the Plessy and Ferguson Foundation, which aims to teach the history of Civil Rights through understanding this historic case and its effect on the American conscience.


Dr. Roald Hoffman

GVALS speaker chemist Roald Hoffmann- Thursday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. in John White Chapel and Friday, October 26 at 10:10 a.m. in John White Chapel

Dr. Roald Hoffmann, along with Kenichi Fukui, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1981 for theories concerning the course of chemical reactions. Dr. Hoffmann is the Frank H.T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters Emeritus at Cornell University, where he has taught since 1965, and is also the presenter for the 26-part PBS series, The World of Chemistry.


Guests are brought to Geneva through a variety of separate speaker series collectively known as Guests@Geneva. Programs that are part of Guests@Geneva include the Geneva Visiting Artist and Lecture Series (GVALS), the Faith and Culture series, the Bitar and Vos Lectures, and select Chapel speakers.

All Guests@Geneva engagements are free, and the public is invited to attend.
