The Geneva College Theatre Department will present The Little Prince as its first production of the fall semester. Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. on both Monday, September 3 and Tuesday, September 4 in the Bagpiper Theatre.

The Little Prince has roles for 12-20 actors. With music by Rick Cummins and script and lyrics by John Scoullar, this production is not only a play, but also includes musical numbers. There are also some dance-related roles, but although previous dance experience is welcome, it is not necessary.

Auditions will begin with a brief introduction to the theater and an overview of the season. Preparation in advance is not required, although scripts are available for perusal at the front circulation of the library. Theatre Director Mindy George says, "This is an open invitation to anyone interested in any area of theater, not just acting."

The Little Prince is based on the satirical novella of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This novella is the most read and most translated book in the French language, as well as one of the best-selling books ever published. It is a memoire of the narrator′s relationship with the Little Prince, a mystical creature from another planet, whom he meets in the desert following a plane crash. The story explains the narrator′s dislike of adults because of their practicality and recounts the Prince′s adventures on six different planets.

The performance dates for the production are October 25, 26, and 27 and November 1, 2, and 3.
