Erie, PA - After day one of the Presidents′ Athletic Conference tennis championships, the Geneva women′s team showed several signs of promise heading into Championship Saturday. With one player heading to a conference title match and three other groups set for consolation matches, Geneva was primed to make another statement in the PAC.
By day′s end, Geneva′s hopes turned to disappointment as the Golden Tornadoes went 0-4 in matches on Saturday and finished with a second place and three fourth place spots.
Christine Bullock, who won two matches on Friday to advance to the PAC title match in fifth flight singles, dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Saint Vincent to finish with her first second place finish and ended as Geneva′s top finisher in 2012.
Alison Beattie fell in straight sets to grab a fourth place finish in sixth flight singles while teammate Brittany Kress also dropped a straight set match in her consolation final in fourth flight singles. In the only doubles action of the day for Geneva, Kress and Courtney Light dropped a 8-2 decision to finish fourth in third flight doubles.
As a team, Geneva ended in a fourth place tie with Waynesburg in the team competition.
