Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College men′s soccer team had given itself an opportunity to control its own destiny for the PAC regular season crown heading into Saturday′s match with Grove City. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, Geneva now finds itself in a position of needing help to claim that top spot. Geneva and Grove City played to a 0-0 double overtime tie on homecoming Saturday and as a result Geneva dropped to 8-5-3 overall and 4-1-2 in league play. Holding down the top spot for now, Geneva has just one conference match remaining while Westminster (4-1-1) and Thomas More (4-1-1) each have two matches left next week and could surpass a Geneva team that defeated both the Titans and Saints earlier in the season.

Grove City out shot Geneva for the game 16-10, but both teams generated outstanding scoring opportunities but could not capitalize. Ben Weaver made four saves for Grove City while Geneva′s Bryan Butler turned away seven shots as each earned a save in the double overtime tie. The Golden Tornadoes did not manage any shots in the 20 minutes of overtime while Grove City posted a trio of shots but could not find the game winner.

The Golden Tornadoes will host Thiel College next Saturday night at 7:30 in a senior day regular season finale that will ultimately decide Geneva′s final post-season seeding for the PAC tournament.
