Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College women′s volleyball team opened defense of its 2011 PAC title on Tuesday night in the first round of the Presidents′ Athletic Conference tournament. The defending champs won′t get the chance to repeat as fifth seeded Westminster College upended the Golden Tornadoes 3-1 on Tuesday night. Geneva ended its play-off run with an overall record of 22-11, but could still have work to do in the NCCAA post-season.

Things were looking very promising early as Geneva cruised out to a set one victory by the score of 25-15. As dominant as they were in set one, the Golden Tornadoes were the exact opposite in the second set with a 25-14 loss. The Titans then managed to hold off Geneva in sets three and four by identical 25-23 scores. Westminster will move on to the PAC semi-finals where it will meet top seed Thomas More in Kentucky on Friday night.

Ashley Davis led Geneva′s offense with 18 kills while Kristland McCracken added 11 kills in the loss. Deanna Briody led the way with 37 assists while also leading the defense with 24 digs.

The Golden Tornadoes will now play the waiting game to see where and when it will play for the NCCAA east regional tournament. The winner of the east regional tournament will advance directly to the NCCAA national tournament, which would be a first for the Geneva women′s program.
