Beaver Falls, PA - Last Saturday, the Geneva College football team celebrated the 25 year anniversary of the 1987 team that defeated Westminster in the NAIA play-offs to put an end to a 40-year losing drought against the Titans. Geneva has started a bit of a streak of its own against Westminster as the Golden Tornadoes defeated the Titans for the third straight year with a 33-14 decision in the 2012 season finale. The victory pushed Geneva′s overall record to 3-7 including a 3-5 mark in conference play. Westminster closed out its campaign with a record of 3-6.

Geneva went right down the field to open the game with a nine play, 70-yard scoring drive. The Golden Tornadoes capped the drive with a seven yard touchdown completion from Zack Hayward to Rocco Colavecchia. The Titans responded early in the second quarter to tie the game on a 62-yard pass play from Dak Britt to Logan Belina. Colavecchia went back to work capping a ten play, 72 yard drive with a one yard plunge. Bryan Visingardi kicked a 32 yard field on the final play of the half giving Geneva a 17-7 lead at the break.

Hayward connected on a 46 yard touchdown to Corey O′Patchen to extend the lead in the third before Westminster answered with a touchdown late in the third quarter. Visingardi kicked a 26 yarder and Colavecchia scored his third touchdown and 20th of the season on a two-yard run to close out the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Geneva racked up 487 yards of offense and held Westminster to 282 for the game. Hayward was 22-33 through the air for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the ground, Jordan Curry led the way with 86 yards on just four carries while Colavecchia finished with 68 yards on 16 carries. O′Patchen pulled in a team best eight catches for 108 yards and the one touchdown.
