Houghton, NY - The cardiac kids that were the Geneva College men′s soccer team ran out of steam on Saturday as the Golden Tornadoes saw their 2012 season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Roberts Wesleyan in the NCCAA East regional championship match. Geneva was making a bid for its second consecutive trip to the NCCAA national tournament but a loss to the Raiders put an end to those hopes. Just one day after upsetting top seed Houghton with a penalty kick victory, Geneva could not generate any offense against Roberts Wesleyan.

The Raiders got on the board early with the game′s first goal just seven minutes into the contest. That 1-0 lead would stand up until Roberts Wesleyan added some insurance with just ten minutes remaining in regulation. Roberts Wesleyan dominated the stat sheet by outshooting Geneva 21-9 for the match. Geneva managed just three shots on goal while the Raiders fired ten shots at sophomore goalkeeper Bryan Butler, who managed to turn away eight of those attempts.

Roberts Wesleyan will take its automatic bid to the NCCAA national tournament while Geneva will look to rebound in 2013 with another strong showing in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference and potentially the NCCAA tournament. Geneva has finished as the PAC runner up in each of its first two years of eligibility.
