Beaver Falls, PA - It had been 30 years since Geneva College and Allegheny College met in men′s basketball. On Monday night, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to pick up their first victory of the season as they dropped an 86-66 decision to Allegheny to fall to 0-5 on the season. It has been 31 years since a Geneva men′s team has opened a season with a 0-5 record.

Matt Lorello scored Geneva′s first four points of the game. When the senior forward made his second bucket of the game, it put Geneva on top 4-3. The bad news for the Golden Tornadoes was that would be their final lead of the game. Allegheny shot 56% from the field in the first half and led by as many as 21 points before settling for a 51-32 lead at the half.

Geneva never got closer than 18 points in the second half and Allegheny led by as many as 26 points at 77-51 with nine minutes remaining in the game. Lorello led Geneva in scoring for the fifth straight game with a team best 19 points. Jordan Harbison scored ten points and knocked down a pair of three point field goals. For Allegheny, Gabe Seidman led a quartet of Gators in double figures with 22 points. Ryan Stanko added 17 points in the victory.

The good news for Geneva is that none of the five losses have come within conference play. The Golden Tornadoes open up Presidents′ Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night when they travel to Greenville, PA to take on Thiel College. Geneva visits Bethany and Division I Youngstown State next week before returning home against Waynesburg on December 8th.
