Beaver Falls, PA - On Friday evening, the Geneva College women′s basketball team scored the game′s final 13 points. The late run went virtually unnoticed in a 16-point loss to Wooster. Less than 24 hours later, the Golden Tornadoes put together another late game run. This time it proved to be the difference in a 65-55 victory over Franciscan University. The victory pushed Geneva′s overall record to 2-9 with victories in two of its last three games to close out the 2012 calendar year.

In a game that featured a pair of ties and a pair lead changes in the second half, Geneva College made the last lead change stand up. Trailing 52-51 with 5:48 to play, Geneva scored the game′s next 12 points to put the game away. Heidi Mann scored the first four points of the run and finished with a game best and career high 27 points to lead the Golden Tornadoes. Leah Prisuta posted 16 points and ten rebounds for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva did an excellent job in protecting the basketball with only 11 turnovers while forcing Franciscan in 18 turnovers for the game. The Golden Tornadoes also held the Barons to eight second half field goals to get the victory after the teams went to the halftime break tied at 33.

Geneva will look for its first in the PAC on Wednesday night when it gets back into conference play against perennial powerhouse Thomas More College at 5:30 pm. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes will welcome rival Grove City to Metheny Fieldhouse for a 1 pm tip-off.
