Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College men′s basketball team couldn′t have started its game with Thomas More much better than it did on Wednesday night. The Golden Tornadoes, who were looking for back to back conference victories, ran out to a 17-6 lead and led by as many as 13 points in the first half. A second half collapse turned things in the wrong direction as Thomas More rallied back for an 89-73 decision. The loss was Geneva′s third straight overall as the Golden Tornadoes fell to 1-11 on the season. Meanwhile, the Saints improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Keynon Jackson connected on a lay-up for Geneva with 5:44 remaining in the first half that extended Geneva′s lead to 37-24. Thomas More was able to get back into the game late in the first half and trailed by only eight points at the break.

The Saints tied the game at 48-48 with 14:198 remaining in the second half and took the lead for good at the 14:04 mark. After connecting on just one three-point field goal in the first half, Thomas More knocked down six in the second half and shot 55% from outside the arc in the final 20 minutes. Overall, the Saints shot 70% from the field in the second half. Geneva shot 56% in the second half but had trouble protecting the ball as it committed 14 second half turnovers.

Matt Lorello led Geneva with 24 points while Jackson came off the bench to score 15 points in the loss. Jordan Harbison continued his hot shooting with a 4-5 night from behind the arc for 12 points. Ethan King led Thomas More with 15 points as the Saints got scoring from 11 different players.

Geneva will look for conference victory number two on Saturday when it hosts Grove City at 3 pm. The Golden Tornadoes will head out for three straight road games following Saturday′s matinee.
