Katie (Kit) Hogan

Geneva College student Katharine Hogan, known as Katie or Kit, was struck by a car while crossing Route 18 on December 7, 2012, sustaining a serious head injury and some broken bones. Since the accident, the Geneva community has drawn together and Katie has been surrounded by the prayers of thousands of God′s people near and far, praying for her healing.

As those prayers were being lifted up, God was answering. In the four weeks since the accident, Katie was weaned off the ventilator and began to communicate, first through holding hands and then response to specific commands and speech.

In answer to the fervent prayers for a room at Cardinal Hill, a brain injury rehabilitation center close to Katie′s home in Lexington, KY, a space became available on December 27. Katie made the trip from Pittsburgh to Lexington, asking questions much of the way, and settled into her new temporary home.

On New Year′s Day, her feeding tube was removed. Physical, speech and occupational therapists are beginning their work with Katie.

Tammy Cessna, a family friend, reported the following on Katie′s CaringBridge webpage:

"Katie's neurologist (Dr. Blake) stopped by for a visit tonight (Dec 30). He said Katie is making incredible progress! He believes that the rehabilitation/therapy will last through the winter, and that Katie will experience a FULL recovery by the spring! Please keep praying! God is GOOD ALL THE TIME! ALLTHE TIME GOD IS GOOD!!!"

The Hogan family has been sustained by God and through the prayers of His people. Katie′s father writes, "we are rejoicing again for Katie′s progress and how clearly the Lord has His hand on her healing."

Cards and letters of encouragement to Katie and her family may be sent to:
