Beaver Falls, PA - In what was a storybook ending to the 2012 softball season for Geneva College, the Golden Tornadoes captured their first Presidentsā€² Athletic Conference title in just their first season as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division III. The encore performance is set to take place in 2013 and the Golden Tornadoes are picked to be right in the mix for another title.

The PAC released its pre-season softball poll on Tuesday and Geneva, which ended the 2012 season with a record of 30-19, finished in a tie for second place alongside Bethany and Thiel. Westminster College was chosen as the pre-season conference favorite.

The Titans received two first place votes and finished with 77 points in the poll conducted by PAC head coaches. Geneva, Bethany and Thiel each finished with 74 points with Geneva receiving a pair of first place votes. Rounding out the ten spots were Thomas More (73), Saint Vincent (71), Grove City (34), W & J (33), Waynesburg (28) and Chatham (12).

"Last year was a great experience for our ladies and for our program," said head coach Van Zanic. "But last year was last year and that means nothing in the whole scheme of things for 2013. We hope to be in the middle of the race all season long but there are so many good teams in this conference it will be a challenge every time out."

Geneva will head to Kissimmee, FL on March 1st and will open the 2013 schedule at the Rebel Spring Games on March 4th with games against Aurora, IL and Bluffton, OH. The Golden Tornadoes open the northern portion of their schedule on March 16th with a doubleheader at Point Park University. The PAC schedule opens for Geneva on March 28th with a doubleheader at Waynesburg University.
