Landseer_Midsummer_Night's_Dream.jpgIn the bleak mid-winter, a dream of mid-summer comes to life next week in the Geneva College Studio Theatre production A Midsummer Night′s Dream. Exotic India during the British Colonial era is the setting for Shakespeare′s delightful comedy about the absurdities of young love, the magic of moonlight and the power of poetry.

Directed by Dr. David Kuhns, professor of English, the production runs two non-consecutive weekends from Thursday evening through Saturday evening on the dates of February 21-23 and March 14-16, at 8 p.m. Two matinee performances are also offered on Saturday, February 23 and March 16 at 2 p.m.

Senior Anna Harris plays the role of Puck, an impish servant of the fairy king. "Doctor Dave has done a great job of giving this setting depth," Harris declares, citing Dr. Kuhns′ insight regarding how each character manifests onstage, and how they all interact.

"All the fairies get to have fun together," states junior Gwen Gamble, who plays a fairy. "There′s this big hollow tree we get to climb around in."

The Studio Theatre is located next to Sheetz on Fourth Avenue in Beaver Falls, PA.

Tickets cost $2 for children 12 and under; $3 for Geneva students, alumni, and seniors 60 and older; 3.50 for Geneva faculty and staff; and $5 for general admission. Geneva honors students may attend for free. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Studio Theatre box office at 724-847-5099.
