Ft. Pierce, FL - Day two looked a lot like day one for the Geneva College baseball team at Ft. Pierce, FL. The Golden Tornadoes split a doubleheader on Monday to push their season record to 2-2 just two days after splitting the season opening twin bill. Geneva dropped game one to Martin Luther College by the score of 3-2 before cruising to a 7-1 victory in the night cap.

Despite out hitting Martin Luther seven to three in game one, the Golden Tornadoes allowed three unearned runs in the loss. T.J. Lambert was Geneva′s hard luck loser by going five innings and allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Martin Luther pushed across one unearned run in the first and two more in the third inning. Geneva pulled to within a run in the sixth and loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but was unable to come away with a game winning hit. Shane Wingard picked up a pair of hits in the loss with Tyler Damazo collecting the lone RBI.

Damazo continued his early season hot hitting in game two with three hits to lead Geneva′s 12-hit attack. Wingard, Mike Jeffreys, Adam Teets and JC Ackerman each had two hits in the victory. Damazo also drove in three runs for the Golden Tornadoes which posted all seven runs in the first four innings. While the offense was revving, it was the pitching of Zach Ackerman that stole the show. Ackerman recorded his first collegiate victory with six innings of work and only five hits and one run allowed. Tanner Propst closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.

Geneva is right back into action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Muhlenberg College beginning at 9 am.
