Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva and Waynesburg hooked up in a game that looked eerily similar to the one the Golden Tornadoes played at Saint Vincent on Wednesday. Unfortunately for Geneva, the result was the same as the Golden Tornadoes watched Waynesburg post four ninth inning runs to steal a 5-1 victory at 33rd Street Field. Just two days after Saint Vincent rallied for a walk-off victory against Geneva, the Golden Tornadoes saw a 1-1 game get away from them in the final frame. The loss dropped Geneva to 9-15 overall and 4-8 in the PAC.

Mike Jeffreys got the start for Geneva and proved why he is regarded as one of the best in the PAC. J. Jay Paskert, however, was matching Jeffreys pitch for pitch in what turned out to be a solid pitcher′s duel. Jeffreys went five innings and allowed five hits and one run while striking out six. Paskert finished the game with the victory on seven hits and one earned run.

After Waynesburg scored the game′s first run in the top of the first, Jeffreys settled in and kept the Yellow Jackets off the board until Geneva could tie the game in the sixth inning. Jeremy Herzog scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the sixth to tie the score.

Caleb Kilgore pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and allowed just one hit throughout his outing. With the game tied into the ninth inning, Waynesburg struck for four runs to break the game open with Drew Nichols being handed the loss.

Geneva finished with seven hits in the game including two each from Mike and Dan Jeffreys.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Waynesburg on Saturday to complete the series with a 1 pm scheduled doubleheader.
