Mitch_Nichols.jpg.jpegGeneva College will host a prayer breakfast to commemorate the National Day of Prayer in Alexander Dining Hall on Thursday, May 2 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Mitchel Nickols.

The breakfast is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support two local non-profit ministries, Tiger Pause Youth Ministry and Pine Valley Bible Camp.

Dr. Nickols is the founding and senior pastor of the Bibleway Christian Fellowship Church. He is also the executive producer and host of the televised talk show A Nickols′ Worth, which airs on Cornerstone Television. The program has won several national awards, including two Telly Awards and a Communicator Award.

The annual National Day of Prayer was first enacted in 1952 by a joint resolution by Congress and signed by President Truman. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of every May. Each year, the president signs a proclamation, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. The National Day of Prayer breakfast hopes to celebrate and continue this tradition.

Geneva College invites students to accept the challenge of an academically excellent, Christ-centered education. Offering nearly 40 undergraduate majors, an Adult Degree Completion Program with fully online and campus-based options, and seven graduate degrees, Geneva has programs that place students at the forefront of higher learning. Adhering to the inerrancy of scripture, the liberal arts core curriculum fosters a breadth of knowledge through the study of humanities, social and natural sciences, and experiential learning.
