New Wilmington, PA - The Geneva College baseball team needed a win on Thursday and the Golden Tornadoes did more than that against Westminster. The Golden Tornadoes came into New Wilmington and left with a pair of victories over the Titans by the scores of 4-3 and 9-3. Geneva improved to 12-17 overall including a 7-10 mark in conference action.

Mike Jeffreys went the distance for Geneva in game one to earn his third victory of the season. Even with Jeffreys dealing against the Titans, Geneva trailed Westminster 3-1 heading into the fifth inning. By the time the fifth inning had ended, the Golden Tornadoes had reclaimed the lead with a three-run frame. Jeffreys allowed that lead to hold up for the victory in game one.

The bats came out early and often for Geneva in game two as the Golden Tornadoes banged out nine hits and took advantage of six Westminster errors to earn the win in game two. Caleb Kilgore was the beneficiary of all the offense to pick up the win on the mound. Geneva used a six-run second inning to break the game wide open and cruise to a sweep over the Titans.

Geneva will enjoy its only weekend of the season off on Friday and Saturday before getting back to action on Monday against Medaille in a non-conference doubleheader. Geneva gets back into PAC play next Wednesday with a home rematch against Westminster at 4 pm.
