Waynesburg, PA - In a 24 hour span, the Geneva College women′s softball team has posted four consecutive conference victories. After having to wait nearly two full weeks to get back onto the field, the Golden Tornadoes didn′t get much turnaround time after a doubleheader sweep of Saint Vincent on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Golden Tornadoes took to the road and picked up two more victories over Waynesburg University by the scores of 4-1 and 7-4. Geneva moved to 10-8 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Geneva got on the board early with a run in the top of the first. After two outs, Christina Fuqua doubled and Laura Beck slashed a single to centerfield to score Fuqua to draw first blood. In the second inning, Geneva added a three-spot highlighted by RBI doubles from Elyssa Simko and Dayna Hicks. Geneva would not score again but Samantha Johnson got all the offense she would need. Johnson allowed just one earned run in seven innings. She scattered four hits and struck out four for her sixth victory of the season. The offense banged out ten hits including two each from Hicks, Ashley Davis and Simko.

The Golden Tornadoes again jumped out early in game two. Geneva scored a single run in the second inning on a Samantha Johnson RBI double. The Golden Tornadoes broke open the game with six runs in the fourth. Johnson again struck with an RBI single while Simko posted a two-run double and Hicks came up with an RBI triple in the inning. Geneva had nine hits in the win with Hicks, Beck, Davis and Johnson each picking up a pair. Andrea Hinds went the distance in the circle to grab her fourth victory of the season. She allowed just two earned runs on eight hits. She struck out five in the victory.

Geneva will hit the road again on Saturday for a 1 pm doubleheader at Grove City. The Golden Tornadoes return home next Wednesday for a 3:30 pm twin bill against Bethany College.
