Geneva College′s Student Publications Board is pleased to announce next year′s staff for The Geneva Cabinet and The Chimes.

The student newspaper of Geneva College, the Geneva Cabinet is a weekly publication distributed to the students, faculty, staff and visitors free of charge every Friday during the school year. The newspaper is also available online at GenevaVoice.com, and is updated throughout the week. The Geneva Cabinet is run by a student editorial staff led by a team of upperclassmen editors, and will be under the direction of returning Editor-in-Chief, Joel Shannon, of Elizabethtown, Pa.

The Chimes is a semi-annual literary publication that highlights the work of student writers. The creative content within this magazine includes a variety of well-written poetry and short stories. Gwenyth Gamble, of Beaver Falls, Pa., will fulfill the role as Editor-in-Chief during the fall semester with Elaine Griffin, of Wesley Chapel, Fl., taking on the responsibility to begin the spring semester.

"I'm very excited about working with next year's staff. The incoming staff of the Cabinet and Chimes for the 2013-14 school year is the most experienced in recent memory," said Shannon. "Nearly every staff member has extensive experience in their job, and several have been recognized for their work outside the Geneva student publications world. We hope to spend the year continuing to build collaboration between the literary magazine and the student newspaper as we both transition into using the GenevaVoice website, in addition to print, to deliver content to our readers."

Gamble said, "I believe that The Chimes has a wonderful voice to influence and impact all those that read it. My vision is for it to cease to be just a whim for submitters, just a required class that some students have to take, but for it to become a strong force for the arts which no one can ignore. I am greatly looking forward to being a part of The Chimes′ purpose to spread the appreciation of literature throughout Geneva′s campus."

"I am really pleased that the majority of this year's staff is returning next year, because this year's crew have raised the standard of excellence for the Cabinet, improved its visual design and started a great transition to online publication with GenevaVoice.com. This may be the best editorial team I've worked with in nine years, and I'm glad so many are able to return next fall," said professor and Cabinet advisor Dr. Tom Copeland.

He added, "Every semester The Chimes staff puts together a superb literary publication, and the two editors for next year definitely have the talent and vision to continue that."
