Chicago, IL - More than 20 student-athletes represented Geneva College at the NCCAA National Track and Field meet over the weekend at Judson College. The first day was highlighted by some outstanding efforts in the field events while day two focused on the track.

On Friday, Jordan Rupert brought home a sixth place finish in the men′s javelin with a distance of 167-09. In the women′s javelin event a pair of Geneva women finished with top ten distances. Kayla Jackson finished fourth overall with Lydia Steele taking home a ninth place finish. The other highlight from day one was the men′s 4 x 100 relay team qualifying for Saturday′s final meet. On Saturday, the relay team finished sixth overall in the final heat with the team of Ryan White, Aaron Marga, Ed Schuster and Josh Guiser crossing the line with a time of 44.05.

Geneva′s distance runners also enjoyed a solid national meet with record breaker Nick Edinger bringing home a fourth place finish with a time of 15:07.89 in the 5000 meter race. On the women′s side, Alayna Merkle finished sixth overall with a time of 18:31.33 with teammate Sarah-Noel Meek finishing 14th at 19:04.13. Perhaps the highlight of the entire weekend came in the women′s 3000 meter steeplechase. Anna Kluitenberg finished ninth overall by chopping off 24 seconds from her personal best time to finish at 12:02.09. The only other top ten finish came in the men′s shot put with Tyler French turning in a final distance of 46-11.

Geneva may send a few national qualifiers to the NCAA Division III meet in LaCrosse, WI beginning on May 23.
