leadership-logo.jpgGeneva College educates students for the purpose of equipping them for faithful and fruitful service to God and neighbor. In enabling them to do this to the best of their abilities, students are encouraged to take advantage of various opportunities offered throughout the year for strengthening their leadership skills. The newest available option for this type of development is the Leadership Certificate Program, which students may register for now.

"Through the Leadership Certificate Program, students discover the strengths they have within, as well as develop their abilities to influence the world around them," explains Director of Student Leadership Development Brian Jensen, who initiated the program.

Plus, this program offers valuable leadership development to students who are unable to take advantage of other service positions on campus. For example, says Jensen, "the Leadership Certificate Program enables us to reach out to those whose schedule doesn′t allow for a GCLife leadership position."

youngleader3.jpgThis new co-curricular offering is designed to help students become effective leaders, no matter where they may be called to serve the Lord. All participants must complete a core set of program requirements, along with options based on one of four concentrations: Adventure-Based Education, Cross-Cultural Awareness, Health & Wellness, and Service & Discipleship.

Core requirements include attending a conference, completing a 150-hour practicum, maintaining a 2.5 GPA, either going through the first-year leadership BETA Program or a one-credit book discussion, and completing a capstone project. Concentration requirements vary, but include such items as attending appropriate workshops, taking on the responsibility of various leadership roles, and receiving subject-specific training.

To participate in the Leadership Certificate Program, students must choose a concentration and register so that requirements may be tracked. Although this is a non-credit program, those completing all requirements receive a formal Leadership Certificate, demonstrating a commitment to maximizing their leadership skills. Registration and additional information is available at http://www.geneva.edu/leadership_cert.

Geneva College invites students to accept the challenge of an academically excellent, Christ-centered education. Adhering to the inerrancy of scripture, the liberal arts core curriculum fosters a breadth of knowledge through the study of humanities, social and natural sciences, and experiential learning.
