Men′s Soccer defeated Franciscan 7-1 for their season home opener on Wednesday. Three days later the men traveled to Allegheny for a long game going into post regulation, resulting in a 1-1 tie. The team will hop back on the bus to face Carnegie Mellon University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh, PA - Geneva men′s soccer team scored early on Friday night but was unable to hold the lead against Mt. Union College as the game ended with a 2-1 decision. Saturday was a different story as the Golden Tornadoes traveled back to the Double Tree Tournament at Carnegie Mellon University to take on the Hiram College Terriers.

Geneva opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the game when sophomore midfielder, Alexander Rosenbaum played a ball to sophomore defender, Kyle Terrill who was able to find the back of the net. Hiram answered in the 15th minute as junior forward, Zaire Morrison took advantage of a ball bouncing in the box off a corner from sophomore forward, Richard Webb to tie the game at 1-1. The two teams battled with neither scoring for the duration of the half.

The second 45 minutes was a different story as the half time adjustments proved to be a game changer with the Golden Tornadoes scoring three times in the first 18 minutes of the second half. Rosenbaum started off the scoring barrage when he received a cross from junior midfielder, Jeremey Troutman and headed it into the goal. Next up was senior forward, Garrett Masters, who volleyed the ball into the net in the 52nd minute also off a pass from Troutman. Minutes later, Masters sent a pass splitting the defenders allowing Troutman to slot a goal of his own in the 57th minute. Masters rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute when freshmen midfielder, Jonathan Shoaf and sophomore forward, PJ Luksik combined to give Garrett his second goal of the night. Hiram was only able to score one time in the second half as freshmen forward, Cory Weddington received a deflected ball from Morrison and sophomore midfielder, Tanner Mathews in the 80th minute. The Golden Tornadoes were too hot to handle for the Terriers coming out on top with a 5-2 win. "We showed true character today, bouncing back from a disappointing performance on Friday and playing very well today," says Head Coach Gary Dunda. "Masters and Troutman showed excellent chemistry in the final third and supplied us with a few beautiful goals."

The Geneva men′s soccer team will host Franciscan University for their home opener Wednesday night with a 7p.m. start. The Golden Tornadoes will be back on the road Saturday for their 5p.m. game at Allegheny College.
