Men′s Soccer defeated Franciscan 7-1 for their season home opener on Wednesday. Three days later the men traveled to Allegheny for a long game going into post regulation, resulting in a 1-1 tie. The team will hop back on the bus to face Carnegie Mellon University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meadville, PA - The Men′s Soccer match at Allegheny College Saturday afternoon seemed in favor towards the end for Geneva until the last two minutes of the game. Finishing with a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods Geneva′s overall record moves to 2-1-1.

The first half remained scoreless for both teams after Bryan Butler faced three Allegheny shots. Geneva was unable to get any shots off in the first half but outshot Allegheny 7-5 in the second. It would be Robert Butler′s shot in the 73rd minute of play to find the back of the net from Alexander Rosenbaum′s cross. Nearing the end of the long back and forth 80 minutes, Allegheny′s Cameron Olson header from Spencer Meschter extended regulation play into overtime.

Bryan Butler and Geneva′s defense did not allow Allegheny to score in the extra play time but Geneva′s offensive was not able to get past John Lichina defending Allegheny′s net either. A second overtime was allotted. Despite two more shot attempts by Geneva the game ended in a draw.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Carnegie Mellon University for more men′s soccer action on Wednesday to face the Tartans at 7 p.m.
