Geneva split the week again with a loss to nationally ranked John Carroll on Wednesday (6-0) and then found their way back into the win column with a 1-0 win against Thiel on Saturday.

Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva hosted Thiel Saturday night to open Presidents′ Athletic Conference play. A lone goal was enough for the win against the Tomcats and started their conference record at 1-0 and an overall record of 5-4-2.

The Golden Tornadoes were able to find the net early when Jeremey Troutman took on a Thiel defender and slid a ball through to Garrett Masters, who scored in the 8th minute. The next 82 minutes would be a scoreless back and forth physical battle for possession. The Tomcats did not get many chances to score with only four shots to Geneva′s 16. Junior goalkeeper Bryan Butler made two saves and collected his second shutout of the season.

Geneva will travel to Thomas More Wednesday for a 1 p.m. start before they come back to College Hill to welcome W&J on Saturday for Community Day.
