Women′s soccer ended their offensive slide splitting the week with a 1-0 loss to Saint Vincent and a 4-0 victory over Chatham.

gcws064.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- The Geneva College women′s soccer team needed a win Saturday after losing five straight and they got one despite the cool, windy October weather. Geneva defeated the Chatham Cougars 4-0. The last time the GT′s scored four goals was their first Presidents′ Athletic Conference win over Thiel. The victory lifts the Golden Tornadoes′ PAC record to 2-5 and an overall record of 5-11.

The offensive surge began early with a solid goal from Heidi Mann with an assist from Hannah Beckhusen in the 7th minute. The teammates then switched places as Beckhusen would collect the next goal with an assist from Mann seven minutes later. Beckhusen would strike again in the 65th minute as she notched the third goal of the game. The scoring barrage would end with the Golden Tornadoes′ leading scorer, Kimberly Orihel finding the back of the net with 16 minutes left in the game. Geneva goalkeeper Anna McMullen made five saves on the game and earned her first shutout of the season.

Geneva will travel to Waynesburg Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. game before closing out the season at home against Bethany on Saturday at 5 p.m. for Senior Night.
