nr_odyssey.jpgAuditions for the spring theatre production of The Odyssey are being held November 18 and 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bagpiper Theatre next to Alexander Hall. This new adaption, directed by Dr. David Kuhns and Mindy George, is based on Odysseus′ epic journey home to Penelope with all of the classic obstacles.

The Odyssey has eight speaking parts for men and eight speaking parts for women, along with a movement ensemble of eight to 10 actors. Students are not required to sign-up for auditions ahead of time, and advanced preparation is welcome, but not necessary. Dance experience is helpful, but also not required.

"The production will use sound, lighting and movement to create a unique and less traditional performance," says Theatre Director Mindy George.

The show will premiere on Thursday, February 20, with further showings on the 21 and 22, as well as on the following week, February 27, 28 and March 1. All shows are at 8 p.m. each day, with additional Saturday matinees at 2 p.m.
